Toronto Raptors' list of NBA Draft workouts is leaking out

About a month and a half from their last game, the Toronto Raptors are well on their way to making a few possibly major decisions for the franchise.
Toronto holds the ninth overall and the 39th overall picks in this year’s draft, which is less than a month away.
The Raptors have several options for who to take with the No. 9 selection. In three past occurrences, they’ve landed Tracy McGrady, DeMar DeRozan, and Jakob Poeltl at that same ninth position, showing that there’s talent to be found even a little later in the draft.
Historically, the Raptors have held their cards pretty close to their chest when it comes to giving too many details about which players they’ve been keeping their eye on to possibly join the franchise.
In recent years, they’ve only typically shared their workout list with the media and the public when notable Canadian college players have been involved, like Memphis big man Zach Edey a year ago.
But the same expectation isn’t always followed by the players and their agents, with word often getting out about who the Raptors have been keeping an eye on.
Historically, the Raptors have sometimes had to plan workouts in the United States, primarily related to visa or other travel issues around certain players.
So far, seven players have been linked to the team for draft workouts. It’s not clear as of right now if the workouts have been happening in Toronto or elsewhere.
USA Today’s Rookie Wire and HoopsHype’s Draft Workout tracker have combined to come up with a list of prospects Toronto has either worked out already or plans to work out:
- TJ Bamba, Oregon
- Lamont Butler, Kentucky
- RJ Felton, East Carolina
- Alex Toohey, Sydney Kings (NBL)
- Jamir Watkins, Florida State
- Tahaad Pettiford, Auburn
- Dylan Cardwell, Auburn
The NBA Draft is set for June 25 and 26 in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center.
