The Toronto Raptors have added a new asset to their collection.

At the 2025 NBA Draft at the Barclays Center in New York City, Toronto selected 6-foo7 forward Collin Murray-Boyles out of South Carolina with the ninth overall pick.

He had previously met with the franchise at the NBA Draft combine last month.

“Though undersized for his position, his toughness, play finishing, passing and defensive chops are attractive,” ESPN’s Jeremy Woo wrote in a mock draft published after the draft lottery. “The three-point shot not yet a regular part of his arsenal but a key swing skill in his development. There is plug-and-play appeal in the things he already does well.”

The franchise rebuffed several reported trade offers with the pick.

Cooper Flagg went first overall as expected to the Dallas Mavericks, while Dylan Harper — son of former Raptors player Ron Harper —  went second to the San Antonio Spurs. Meanwhile, VJ Edgecombe went third overall to the Philadelphia 76ers.

What’s next for the Raptors after the draft?

The Raptors also hold the 39th overall pick in this year’s draft.

While the new picks will head to Toronto to meet with the team and media later this week, their first experience in a Raptors uniform will likely come at next month’s Summer League in Las Vegas.

The Raptors are in the midst of a rebuild, after finishing with a 30-52 record and an 11th place standing in the Eastern Conference.

“When you’re in a contending team situation, the guys you’re taking, you’d know you’re going to have the ability to kind of develop them in the background while your your main group is trying to, you know, get as deep in the playoffs as possible,” Raptors assistant general Dan Tolzman told Offside earlier this week. “There’s a little more runway with those guys to not be thrown into the mix right away. But that doesn’t change the fact that we’re still looking to draft the same players.”

The NBA Draft continues with the first round on Wednesday and second round on Thursday.
