Toronto Raptors' draft lottery odds are now officially set

After a mostly forgettable season on the court, the Toronto Raptors are now one step closer to hopefully landing a big prize.

Sitting in the seventh seed for next month’s NBA Draft Lottery for a few weeks now, the Raptors finalized themselves in that position by way of their win on Wednesday night over the Charlotte Hornets, coupled with the San Antonio Spurs’ victory over the Golden State Warriors.

While the lottery odds are not set for all of the 14 participants, the Raptors themselves will have the seventh-best odds at the first overall pick, widely expected to be Duke star freshman Cooper Flagg.

Toronto has a 7.5 per cent shot at drafting first, while having a 31.9 per cent shot at finishing in the top four.

The lottery itself is actually four separate draws for the first four picks in the draft, with no team being able to fall lower than four spots than their allotted position, or go up if they do not find themselves in the top four. For Toronto, that means they could draft anywhere from 1-4 or 7-11, but not in the 5-6 or 12-14 range.

Here’s Toronto’s full odds at each spot in the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery, written out:

  • First pick: 7.5 per cent
  • Second pick: 7.8 per cent
  • Third pick: 8.1 per cent
  • Fourth pick: 8.5 per cent
  • Fifth pick: Cannot pick here
  • Sixth pick: Cannot pick here
  • Seventh pick:  19.7 per cent
  • Eight pick: 34.1 per cent
  • Ninth pick: 12.9 per cent
  • Tenth pick: 1.3 per cent
  • Eleventh pick: 0.03 per cent

The lottery itself will take place in Chicago on May 12, with television details and an exact time yet to be announced, though TSN has carried it in recent years.

Toronto’s only recent pick in the top four of the draft since their first overall selection of Andrea Bargnani in 2006 came in 2021, when they selected eventual All-Star Scottie Barnes at fourth overall out of Florida State.

Meanwhile, the NBA Draft itself takes place over two days, from June 25 to 26.
