As we make our way through the short week, we can’t help but dream of the long weekend ahead.

And long weekend planning means looking at the weather pattern, and seeing if it’s patio (or Easter egg hunting) appropriate yet.

Sadly, it’s not.

According to the Weather Network, rain, and lots of it, is expected this long weekend, which might put a slight damper on your Easter plans.

While double digits are in the forecast, rain is expected from Thursday through Sunday.

As a cold front crosses southern Ontario on Friday, periods of rain will accompany the falling temperatures.

“Most places will see their high temperatures early in the day, but if the cold front slows down, then temperatures to the east of Toronto and possibly across Niagara will be several degrees warmer,” says Weather Network meteorologist Dr. Doug Gillham.

The Weather Network says there are three days of downpours ahead of us that will add up to some “hefty totals,” with some areas in the region to see thunderstorms.

Heading into Saturday, we can expect lingering showers as the soggy system makes a “slow and gradual exit.”

“At this point, it looks like Saturday morning will be a washout with widespread rain,” says Gillham. “It is possible that much of the afternoon and evening will end up dry, especially along and south of the 401, but rain will linger longer to the north.”

According to The Weather Network, Sunday looks to be the driest day of the long weekend, although a threat for scattered rain showers is still there.

Whatever you’re plans are this Easter long weekend, make sure to pack your umbrella.
