A new bus service is coming to Toronto’s east end this month.

Starting on Tuesday, October 9, the TTC will introduce the new 12D Kingston Road bus service that will operate from Victoria Park Station to the University of Toronto Scarborough campus as a one-year pilot.

According to the TTC, the new service will “improve connectivity between neighbourhoods and key destinations” along major corridors, including Lawrence Avenue East, Morningside Avenue and Kingston Road.

The new peak period service will be trialled on this route to provide continuous service along Kingston Road.

A new branch, 12D, will operate during the peak periods, from Monday to Friday, between Victoria Park Station and the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus.

The weekday service will operate from 6 am to 9 am, approximately every 30 minutes, and between 3 pm and 7 pm, approximately every 25 minutes.

During the pilot, TTC staff will monitor and adjust service as demand and operating conditions required to ensure route performance is maximized.

Following one-year of operation, TTC staff will evaluate the ridership to determine whether to make the service permanent, extend the pilot period with modifications to service, or cancel the service.

The new 12D Kingston Rd. route is shown below.

The TTC says overall, service levels on this route will remain largely unchanged between Victoria Park Station and Brimley Road.
