Toronto flight comes very close to water while landing in St. Maarten (VIDEO)
One thing known about St. Maarten, besides its beautiful beaches, is its treacherous airport runway.
Home to Princess Juliana International Airport, a quick Google of St. Maarten will produce hundreds of photos and videos of planes taking off and landing at an uncomfortably close proximity to the beach.
But that’s part of the Caribbean island’s charm.
In fact, no visit is complete without a Maho Beach selfie with a plane.
But last week, a WestJet flight from Toronto came really close to that beach.
In fact, it came far too close to the water before the beach.
March 7’s flight 2652 was attempting to land, when it seemed to be a little bit too close to the water. A video posted by ATCpilot described the landing, saying “only a few feet missing and the Boeingjet from Toronto could have crashed into the water. A shocking moment for all of us at the sunset bar on Maho Beach, St. Maarten.”
The plane flew back up, and returned over 30 minutes later to land successfully.
