Toronto Fire Services are battling a 4-alarm blaze on the Danforth near Chester and Arundel avenues.
Multiple emergency vehicles are currently on the scene, and Toronto Police has requested the public avoid the area.
Fire crews were called to the scene just after 6 am and had to evacuate the neighbouring buildings.
Toronto Fire said it has requested a TTC bus to provide shelter for anyone forced out.
“The fire is deep seated in the basement & given the historic construction & difficult weather, crews are fighting diligently to stop it from spreading,” reads a tweet from Toronto Fire.
