Now in its tenth year, the Toronto Christmas Market is back and bigger than ever, as it will be kicking off the holiday season even earlier this year by opening its doors on November 14.
But the Christmas Market wouldn’t be complete without its iconic 50-foot Christmas tree, which officially arrived at the Distillery District on Monday afternoon to mark the beginning of its transformation into Toronto’s favourite holiday destination.
Donated by Forests Ontario and travelling from Bancroft, ON, the Christmas tree will be decorated with 40,000 glowing lights, 800 Christmas ornaments and a whopping 1 km of gold ribbon to make the tree glisten with holiday spirit.
“This tree is the heartbeat of the Toronto Christmas Market,” said Toronto Christmas Market Creator and Executive Director, Mathew Rosenblatt.
“Welcoming the tree is a special tradition that reminds us of all the precious hugs, kisses and wedding proposals shared in front of, beside, and sometimes behind the tree. Our team is excited and ready to start decorating.”

“As our holiday gift to the Toronto Christmas Market, Forests Ontario has donated this 50-foot Balsam Fir tree. Choosing to celebrate the holiday season with a real tree is a great way to support local jobs and the Ontario economy,” said Kerry McLaven, Director of Operations at Forests Ontario.
In addition to the stunning Christmas tree, the market will also feature entertainment, beer gardens, vendors, and a whole lot of Christmas cheer. So get cozied up, and head down to the Distillery District to experience its holiday magic.
