For every player that ends up playing for the Toronto Blue Jays, there’s all sorts of perks that come with making it to the highest level of professional baseball.

There’s the fame, the thrill of accomplishing a lifelong dream, and likely a decent paycheque to boot.

But one of the most underrated aspects of getting to play in the big leagues is the ability for both pitchers and batters to choose their own walk-up music, blasted out of the Rogers Centre speakers each time the players take the field.

With Toronto starting their season on Thursday at home against the Baltimore Orioles, fans got the chance to hear songs for the first time as chosen by the players.

Here’s what everyone on the Blue Jays Opening Day lineup chose as their tunes for this season, with the song title followed by the artist:

  • Chris Bassitt: “God’s Country”, Blake Shelton
  • José Berríos: “La Resistencia PR”, Redimi2
  • Bo Bichette: “tv off (feat. lefty gunplay)”, Kendrick Lamar
  • Ernie Clement: “Shout”, (Various Artists)
  • Bowden Francis: “Universal Sound”, Tyler Childers
  • Yimi García:  “Ven Espíritu Santo”, Barak
  • Kevin Gausman: “Money”, Pink Floyd
  • Chad Green: “Holiday”, Green Day
  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr.: “Headlines”, Drake
  • Tyler Heineman: “Edge of Seventeen”, Stevie Nicks
  • Alejandro Kirk: “La Diabla”, Xavi
  • Brendon Little: “Beggin'”, Måneskin
  • Richard Lovelady: “Lunatic Fringe”, Red Rider
  • Alan Roden: “Calm Down”, Rema
  • Nick Sandlin: “Hollywood’s Bleeding”, Post Malone
  • Anthony Santander: “Me Gusta – En Vivo”, Porfi Baloa
  • Davis Schneider: “The Stroke”, Billy Squier
  • George Springer: “Butterfly Effect”,  Travis Scott

With a few players — notably, Gold Glove-winning outfielder Daulton Varsho — having a delayed start to the season, there’s sure to be a couple of additional tunes added to the list over the course of 81 home contests this season.

And with such a varied selection of choices from the players, fans taking in games all season long will have a chance to have a varied taste of whatever genre floats their boat.
