When making it to play for the Toronto Blue Jays, most players have access to the type of recovery and treatment that everyday citizens could only ever dream of.
Whether it’s an ice bath, a massage, or any other form of care that you could think of, the Blue Jays and the 29 other MLB teams generally are known for taking pretty good care of their players.
But for Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido, he appears to have gotten his latest form of treatment from, well, a cookbook.
On Tuesday night, Loperfido exited the Blue Jays’ contest in Denver against the Colorado Rockies after taking a pitch right to the knee.

The injury looked pretty brutal, with Loperfido unable to walk off on his own power. Given that the Blue Jays are also dealing with injuries to George Springer and Andres Gimenez, Toronto could do without adding a few more names to the injured list.
But with a wealth of treatment options ahead of him, Loperfido opted for a simpler remedy in the clubhouse after the game: some chicken parm.

“Chicken parm is an Italian’s anti-inflammatory,” Jeff Hoffman wrote, while sharing a pic of Loperfido scarfing down a post-game meal.
Whatever works, we guess.
Will Loperfido miss any time for the Blue Jays?
“We’re assuming he’s going to be pretty sore tomorrow, but we’ll see how he is,” manager John Schneider said following the game, while adding that x-rays came back negative. Loperfido is currently listed as having a knee contusion, so he appears to have avoided the worst possible injury.
