Another day, another top ranking for Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

Just a few short weeks ago, the airport was awarded the title of one of the most scenic landings. And now, PortsToronto announced that YTZ has won a prestigious Skytrax Award.

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport was recently named one of the world’s best airports at the Skytrax World Airport Awards.

Skytrax is the premier international airport awards voted on by nearly 14 million passengers worldwide, and the city airport was ranked the tenth best airport in the world in the under 5 million passenger category, representing the sixth year YTZ has won a Skytrax award.

“What an incredible honour to be named one of the best airports in the world by Skytrax World Airport Awards,” said Geoffrey Wilson, CEO of PortsToronto, owner and operator of Billy Bishop Airport.

“This international ranking further demonstrates how well this airport serves its passengers and the value it brings to Toronto as an important gateway to the world, located just a few steps from downtown.”

According to PortsToronto, the 2019 awards are based on millions of airport survey questionnaires completed by more than 100 different nationalities of air travellers, covering 550 airports worldwide. And “in the independent survey, passengers continue to rank Billy Bishop Airport highly across 39 key performance indicators, including fast check-in times, ease of access to the terminal, and the courtesy and efficiency of airport staff.”

Billy Bishop Airport has also been ranked as the fourth Best International Airport by Condé Nast Traveler and has ranked top ten on Private Fly’s list for Most Scenic Airport Approaches in the world for five consecutive years.

The top airports this year in the “under 5 million passengers” category include London City, Quito, Baku, Guayaquil, and Halifax.
