After 10 years of serving the Toronto community, Prairie Girl Bakery has decided to permanently close its doors on Tuesday.

In a post shared on Instagram, the bakery issued a statement thanking customers for the support over the past decade.

“We are sorry to be sharing the news that Prairie Girl Bakery has permanently closed as of today, January 5, 2021,” read the post.

“Thank you to our wonderful customers for the past 10 years of support!

Although the reasoning behind the closure has not been disclosed, the announcement follows suit with thousands of restaurants and shops in Toronto and across Canada that have shut its doors for good.

“Right from the day we opened our first store on April 1, 2011, we were thrilled by the response to our old-fashioned cupcakes and cakes,” read a statement on their website.

“Prairie Girl was made up of an incredible team of bakers, catering and customer service professionals, and our management team. Thank you all so much for your loyalty over the years.”

Prairie Girl Bakery officially closed on January 5.
