This iconic Ontario restaurant is offering delivery for the first time in 85 years

We’re currently seeing things that even our grandparents haven’t seen in their lifetime —strict social distancing, hand sanitizer on the black market, and driveway parties.

Thankfully, we’re also seeing some restaurants open their takeout operations for the first time ever.

This includes The Prescott, Ottawa’s oldest sports bar and restaurant. Yes, the Preston Street restaurant, famous for its history and its Italian comfort food, including its iconic square pizzas, is delivering for the first time in 85 years (NBD).

Fans of the iconic restaurant, which has been open since 1934, can now not only order delivery from the regular menu (think meatball sandwiches and pastas), but also select something off the restaurant’s new “take and bake” menu so they can make it at home.

Take any of the restaurant’s made-in-house pizzas home and bake it yourself, or try a meatball melt, lasagna, or pasta tray. You can also purchase any of their pasta sauces to upgrade your at-home Italian feasts.

Other menu items include fish and chips, jumbo wings, and deep fried pickles.

One local customer, Vicki, says that the new takeout menu has allowed her 84-year-old friend to still experience one of her favourite meatball platters, just from home.

“She always says it’s not hot enough for her but always loves it,” Vicki explains. “This year was different. We ordered take out last week, she didn’t complain about it not being hot enough! Her only complaint was not being able to sit and enjoy the dining room experience.”

If you’ve been missing The Prescott’s pizza, order any of the restaurant’s famous square styles — meat lovers, vegetarian, Hawaiian, pepperoni, cheese, and more — starting at $6.

There’s also a selection of beers available for order (because everyone knows pizza and beer are best friends). All beverages are priced the same as at the LCBO —no mark-up and no lines.

And if you want to go all out, there’s also a full dessert menu available for order, including pecan pie, apple pie, and New York cheesecake. Yum!

The team at The Prescott hasn’t seen this happen in the entirety of their career at the restaurant, including General Manager, Philip Coates, who been working there for 32 years, Chef Ton who has worked there for 31 years, and Front of House, Dave Parnell, who has been there for 22 years.

Ready to take advantage of this new ordering experience? Place your order directly to the restaurant at The Prescott’s website for curbside pickup or delivery, or via Uber Eats and Skip the Dishes. The establishment is also offering gift cards via their website, and you can stay posted on new deals and updates via Instagram.
