We could be in for a massive halftime show performance at the 2026 Super Bowl this coming February.

While we’ve seen some big-name performers in Kendrick Lamar, Usher, and Rihanna in recent years, there have been whispers that there may be an even more world-renowned performer this coming year: Taylor Swift. The iconic pop star has become very popular in NFL circles, given her recent engagement to Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce.

Though some felt that the speculation surrounding Swift performing at the Super Bowl was nothing more than wishful thinking from her rabid fanbase, that may not entirely be the case.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell joined the Today Show for an interview that aired on Wednesday morning, and co-host Savannah Guthrie made sure to ask him point-blank if we will see Swift perform at the halftime show.

“We would always love to have Taylor play,” Goodell responded. “She is a special, special talent. She would be welcome at any time.”

Guthrie pressed Goodell further, asking if having Swift perform is in the works.

“It’s a maybe. It’s a maybe… I’m waiting on my friend Jay-Z to be able to help me with that one. It’s in his hands. I’m waiting for the smoke to come out.”

Taylor Swift recently announced on the New Heights podcast hosted by Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce, that her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, is scheduled for release on Oct. 3.

This upcoming album is the follow-up to Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour, which spanned nearly two years and saw her perform a total of 149 shows across five continents. The tour sold over $2 billion worth of tickets.

It’s worth noting that Lamar was announced as the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show performer on Sept. 8, 2024, meaning we could soon learn whether Swift will be taking the stage.
