It’s a sad moment in time for those who frequent Yorkville’s gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free, sesame-free, vegan café, and bake shop, Sorelle and Co.
Because the eatery, catering to those with dietary restricts who still want to indulge in life’s finer things, has shuttered.
The shop announced the news on Instagram a day after final service. Commenters expressed both sadness and disappointment in not learning of the closure before-hand.
“I would’ve loved to go in for one more mocha,” one user wrote.
The post’s caption cites a deepening focus on wholesale, in order to make treats more accessible to all, as the reason behind the closure. It notes, as well, that the shop’s flagship location in Vaughan will remain open seven days a week, offering sweet, savoury, and high tea options.
So for those who are still craving a fill of almost-everything-free (except deliciousness) donuts, cakes, and breads, it looks like a trip to 1050 Rutherford Road may be in the cards.
