A Canadian organization is raising funds to end the suffering of vulnerable stray animals in Canada and Thailand, and you can help by getting out and getting active for a great cause.
Soi Dog Canada is holding its ‘Mutt March’ at Erindale Park in Mississauga on June 9 to help raise money for dogs and cats in need.
Participants of all ages and their furry friends are welcomed to participate in a 2 km or 5 km walk, and the event will feature games, pet service vendors, a ‘barket place’ filled with vendors, a face paint station, food, and other pet-centric activities.
There will also be some fun dog contests for participants to check out after the walk, including the best-dressed dog, dog and owner lookalike, waggiest tail, and best trick.
The event will help to address the many stray dogs suffering in areas of Canada by donating a percentage of the funds raised on the day to:
- The Canadian Animal Assistance Team in BC
- Alberta Spay & Neuter Task Force
- Northern Spay Neuter Campaign in Ontario
Soi Dog Foundation was established in 2003 in Phuket, Thailand, to help the street dogs and cats who had no one else to care for them, and to provide a humane and sustainable solution to managing the stray population and to address their medical needs.
According to their website, the organization continues to work to end the dog meat trade as well as help spaying and neutering to prevent unwanted puppies and kittens being born into short lives of suffering, along with the rescue, vaccination, medical treatment, sheltering, and adoption of those that cannot be returned to their territory.
Dozens of its rescued dogs have found new homes in Canada.
