The Toronto sign is lighting up to honour the Raptors tonight
The iconic Toronto sign at Nathan Phillips Square will light up in red tonight to honour the one-year anniversary of the Raptors championship win.
Exactly one year ago today, on June 13, 2019, Torontonians were celebrating their basketball team winning its first ever championship title.
Toronto Mayor John Tory hopes the sign will help people “remember some of the joy and excitement that filled our city only one short year ago.”

The coronavirus pandemic has made the massive crowds that filled downtown last year seem even further away.
But the good news for basketball fans is that the NBA will be back this summer.
