GTA Shoppers Drug Mart employees test positive for COVID-19

Six Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Toronto have reported COVID-19 cases among their staff the past few days and over the weekend.

According to parent company Loblaws Ltd., on March 18, an employee at the 91 Rylander Boulevard location in Scarborough was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on March 9.

The same day, on March 18, two employees at the 160 Main Street South location in Brampton were reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on March 8 and 12, respectively.

On March 19, an employee at the 180 Danforth Avenue location was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on March 11.

The same day, on March 19, an employee at the 1027 Yonge Street location was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on March 10.

On March 21, two employees from the 1515 Steeles Avenue East location also reported an employee testing positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had both last worked on March 16.

On March 22, an employee at the 4700 Keele Street location was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on March 16.

Its parent company, Loblaws also reported several cases in the last few weeks.

Loblaws updates their coronavirus cases reported in stores by province within the last 15 days in an effort for transparency.

“In addition, we have mandated that our staff and customers wear masks in Extra Foods, Fortinos, Maxi, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstores, and T&T stores across Canada,” said Loblaws.
