Toronto Shoppers Drug Mart employees test positive for COVID-19

Ten COVID-19 cases have been reported by employees at several Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Toronto and across the GTA on Monday and over the past weekend.

According to parent company Loblaws, on December 19, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart located at 550 Eglinton Avenue West reported testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. The last day they worked was on December 14.

In King City on December 19, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart, located at 2140 King Road, reported testing positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on December 12.

That same day, a Shoppers Drug Mart employee at 236 Bloor Street West reported testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 12.

Another Toronto Shoppers Drug Mart, this time at 970 Queen Street East, reported an employee testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 11.

The same day, another Shoppers Drug Mart location, 70 Eglinton Square Boulevard, reported an employee testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 16.

The next day, two employees at a Shoppers Drug Mart, 761 King Street West, reported testing positive on a presumptive test on December 20. They had last worked on December 11 and 13, respectively.

On December 20, an employee at the 2528 Bayview Avenue Shoppers Drug Mart reported testing positive on a presumptive test. They had last worked on December 16

That same day, three employees at a Shoppers Drug Mart located at 3401 Dufferin Street, reported testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 11 and 13.

On December 21, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart located at 1 Kennedy Road South in Brampton reported testing positive for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 14.

That same day, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart, 1533 Jane Street, reported testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. The last day they worked was on December 15.

Last week, several other locations across the city and the GTA reported multiple employees testing positive for COVID-19.

Loblaws and Metro also reported several of their grocery store locations have employees who tested positive for the virus over the past weekend.

In an effort for transparency, Loblaws updates their coronavirus cases reported in stores by province within the last 15 days.

“In addition, we have mandated that our staff and customers wear masks in Extra Foods, Fortinos, Maxi, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstores, and T&T stores across Canada,” said Loblaws.
