Two Sherway Gardens restaurants confirm positive coronavirus cases

Two Sherway Gardens restaurants, JOEY and The Keg, have reported positive COVID-19 cases among their staff at the Etobicoke locations on Tuesday.

Cadillac Fairview confirmed the two cases to Daily Hive.

“The affected clients acted quickly and responsibly by immediately contacting Cadillac Fairview and Public Health,” said a Cadillac Fairview spokesperson.

“The clients and CF have taken necessary actions as advised by Public Health by arranging a deep-clean of the client space, which has already been conducted.”

The JOEY employee’s last shift was on August 24, confirmed by the restaurants spokesperson.

“The restaurant was voluntarily closed to allow for a deep sanitation of the property by a third-party cleaning firm. The health and safety of our guests and our staff is our primary concern,” they said.

“We continue to follow strict health and safety protocols and all team members are being closely monitored.”

JOEY Sherway remains open, while The Keg will open once again at 3 pm on September 1.

“CF will continue our extra cleaning of all elevator banks, food court tables, common area seating, doors and stair railings, and all other high-touch points in the complex,” said the Cadillac Fairview spokesperson.

This news just comes a day after another JOEY location at Yorkdale Mall reported a COVID-19 case among one of their staff on August 31.

Just last week, an employee at the Footlocker Yorkdale location also tested positive for the virus, resulting in the closure of the store for cleaning.

Daily Hive has reached out to The Keg and JOEY for comment.
