An employee at Yorkdale Mall has been diagnosed with a presumptive positive case of COVID-19.

According to representatives, the North York mall shut down its Footlocker store after an employee alerted management of the positive case on August 27.

“Mall management was notified yesterday by Footlocker that an employee tested positive for COVID-19,” a Yorkdale spokesperson told Daily Hive.

“Store management has closed the location to allow for appropriate cleaning and sanitization and Yorkdale operations has ensured a deep cleaning of all exterior surface areas in addition to frequent cleaning of all high-touch and high-traffic areas.”

The store remains closed and will undergo a thorough cleaning.

As the mall manages to maintain health and safety as the main priority during these times, Yorkdale has implemented hand sanitizer and handwashing stations throughout the mall, signage for traffic flow and physical distancing, as well as curbside pick up offers from participating retailers.
