Sens fans slam Toronto Maple Leafs in viral playoff diss track

The Battle of Ontario is officially on.
Tempers are already starting to flare between Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs fans as they engage in the first Battle of Ontario since 2004.
And now an Ottawa musician has taken matters into his own hands.
Kyle Ivan, a singer-songwriter from the Canadian capital, released a diss track aimed at the Maple Leafs on Saturday that is quickly picking up steam on social media.
The track is a parody of Blur’s 1997 smash hit “Song 2” that is also often heard at sporting events.

Ivan made sure to pull out all the stops for the diss track with a full band sporting various Senators jerseys. They also filmed the short video outside of the Canadian Tire Centre, which will be hosting NHL playoff games for the first time since 2017.
Playoff diss tracks are not uncommon in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, especially for Canadian-based teams, but they do have a bit of a controversial history. For many, creating a playoff anthem or diss track ahead of the postseason is seen as a sort of jinx for whatever fanbase is creating it.
Calgary Flames fans know this well after a 2022 song went viral shortly before the team was eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers. The Vancouver Canucks suffered the same fate last season after a similar situation as well.
It remains to be seen if the Senators will suffer a similar fate, but there is reason to believe for Ottawa fans. The Sens swept the Maple Leafs this season, winning all three games by a combined score of 9-3.
Can the Senators break the trend, or will they be the latest to fall victim to the playoff song curse?
