Thousands are currently gathered at Queen’s Park for Toronto’s Climate Strike March, set to take over the heart of the city for the afternoon.
Hosted by Fridays For Future Toronto, the Global Strike for Climate Justice began at 10 am. The event’s Facebook page showed 11K attending, and an additional 14K “interested” in the event as of Friday morning.
Inspired by Greta Thunberg, the day will see a rally followed by a 1.5-minute long moment of silence to remember those who have already lost their lives to the climate crisis.
Following that, there will be a march that will head east on Wellesley, south on Bay, west on Queen and north on University, circling back to Queen’s Park.
