Toronto has a new public outdoor skating rink, and it’s in the heart of the city.

A natural outdoor rink is now open to the public at CityPlace’s Canoe Landing Park, thanks to a partnership between Concord Adex and the newly developed CityPlace Fort York Business Improvement Area.

“Concord Adex believes in building vibrant and sustainable communities,” says Gabriel Leung, Vice President of Development for Concord Adex in a statement. “Residents have been enthusiastic about the opportunity for more activity space and outdoor leisure activities close to home. We’ve listened, and this ice rink is the first of many features Concord Adex is planning to support.”

The opening of the rink included a Valentine’s Day event featuring an Olympic-level figure skating demonstration from Canadian national team member Michelle Long. In addition, the rink was officially opened for free skating under the stars and snow.

“Putting an initiative of this size together is no easy task,” said Leung. “This could not have come together without collaboration between Concord Adex, the CityPlace Fort York BIA and the City of Toronto.”

The rink will remain open to the public throughout the winter.
