The trek towards sustainability continues.

And in some cases, that means that brand-new spots are opening up, totally catered to those who want to minimize their carbon footprint.

Toronto’s first “zero-waste” storefront opened in February, offering the neighbourhood around Trinity Bellwoods a place to stock up on their garbage-less goods.

Shortly after, the folks behind bare market announced that they would soon be moving into a permanent shop after many years of operating only as a pop-up shop.

And now, the Junction neighbourhood is warmly welcoming another store of the same kind: Pretty Clean Shop.

The store was founded by Miriam Juarez in January of this year, and soft-opened its doors in May at 3072 Dundas Street West.

The grand opening celebration will take place on August 15.

Described as “the one-stop shop, for attaining clean care without compromise for your home, your family and yourself” by Juarez in a release, the store offers local and non-toxic cleaning, personal care, and home decor products.

“Though I’ve always been health and eco-conscious, it was only after having my first child that I became more concerned with everything that came into our house and our bodies. So began my journey of ‘cleansing’ my life and our family home of harmful chemicals.” Juarez explained.

Whether you’re shopping for a face oil or something to wash the tub with, there are options at Pretty Clean. Plus, products come with minimal packaging, favouring glass, bamboo, aluminum, and stainless steel over plastics.

With the addition of this new shop, the west end is currently doing pretty well in terms of options for low-impact shopping. But with online orders available, folks across the city can also access these goods.

So the next time you’re going to re-stock detergent or deodorant, pause for a moment to consider if you might be able to make a different kind of choice.

Because change happens one decision at a time.
