Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins confirmed that the issues with the TTC reloading machines only occurred in subway stations.
Aikins said that while the debit and credit functions were impacted, cash re-loading, reload options through the app, online, and at Shoppers Drug Mart locations were working.
Aikins added that TTC customers can now use their PRESTO card to pay the full fare on five TTC downtown express routes (without additional cash payments) as it can all be paid with the card.
Customers can also use their PRESTO card now for the full fare on all cross-boundary (Mississauga and York Region) bus routes.
Additionally, PRESTO limited use tickets can also be purchased at all subway stations and all Shoppers Drug Marts. The TTC is now working with social service agencies to distribute them to replace token distribution.
“The app is proving to be a very popular way to load money onto your PRESTO card. Since we launched in Jan, the app has accommodated close to a million loads,” said Aikin.
