New Toronto food festival puts some of the city's hottest eats under one roof this weekend

There’s a brand-new food festival in Toronto this weekend, and it’s set to feature a host of the city’s hottest restaurants and pop-ups.
Food festivals are, quite possibly, the best thing about summer in the city, and, lucky for us, year after year, the city’s social schedule is chock-full of opportunities to sample the hottest eats from the GTA and beyond.
The fact that food festivals are already in ample supply in Toronto does little to diminish the excitement that inevitably bubbles up when a new one lands on the scene, though, and that’s exactly what’s happening with the city’s newest food festival, Potluck Food Jam.
Okay, technically, it’s a food festival within a food festival, but those are just semantics. Let’s focus on the most important matter at hand: the eats.
Popping up at Toronto’s Festival of Beer (TFoB) this weekend, the first-ever instalment of Potluck Food Jam is a collaboration between Toronto’s Festival of Beer itself and trendy Toronto food group Highbell Hospitality (Mondays Off, Fat Bao), and it’s going to feature an impressive lineup of eateries.
While TFoB itself might be a decidedly beer-centric event, Potluck Food Jam is all about the eats, staying true to its name by welcoming droves of Highbell Hospitality’s “friends” to offer their own distinct dishes.
Among the lineup are heavy hitters like Good Behaviour, Burger Drops, Oyster Boy, Japadog, and Tiny Tom’s, as well as favourites including Bashy Patties, 6 Spice Rack, Kong’s Tacos, and Heirloom catering.
Whether you’re in the mood for a tried-and-true smash burger and fries combo or something a little more out of the ordinary, like a hot dog topped with cream cheese and avocado, you’ll get your cravings satisfied this weekend.
It’s not only about the food, though. Potluck Food Jam defines itself as a “new food experience intersecting culture, music, arts [and] community with every bite,” so you can be sure the team has even more tricks up their sleeves than just a great menu.
