A pedestrian was taken to hospital Thursday evening after falling from an overpass onto Highway 400 in Barrie, Ontario.
Sgt. Kerry Schmidt with the Ontario Provincial Police said they haven’t heard the extent of the person’s injuries yet and are waiting for updates.
The fall happened at the Anne Street overpass, and the highways northbound lanes were shut down for about an hour while police investigated.

At the same time a rollover collision nearby in the southbound lanes of the highway also snarled traffic, Schmidt said. Some people were trapped inside their vehicles, and emergency crews on scene had to free them.
He advised drivers to avoid Highway 400 at Anne Street due to the backups.
