The Government of Ontario is reporting 116 more COVID-19 cases in schools in Wednesday’s update, above 100 for the second day.
According to the provincial government, 81 of the new cases are student-related, seven are staff-related, and 28 are unidentified, totalling 2,476 reported cases since September.
There has been a reported 907 school-related cases in just two weeks, with 1,569 cases reported 14 or more days before that.
The numbers are announced daily at 10:30 am on the province’s school and childcare centre coronavirus-tracking website.

Out of the 2,476 cases reported since September, about 57% of cases have been reported from students.
The province continues to report one school closure out of the 581 schools currently reporting cases.

As for licensed childcare centres, there are now 468 total confirmed cases, as well as 98 centres and 408 homes closed.

On Wednesday morning, the province confirmed 987 new coronavirus cases, less than the record-breaking high from the previous day.
This is a decrease from Tuesday’s 1,050, Sunday’s 977, and Saturday’s 1,015, but a slight increase from Monday’s 948.
