670 Ontario schools currently have a reported case of COVID-19

The Government of Ontario reports that 670 schools in the province currently have a reported case of COVID-19.

According to the provincial government, 56 of the new cases are student-related, 13 are staff-related, and 47 are unidentified, making it a total of 116 new cases in 24 hours.

The new total of COVID-19 cases has reached 3,282 since September.

There has been a reported 1,101 school-related cases in just two weeks, with 2,181 cases reported 14 or more days before that.

The numbers are announced daily at 10:30 am on the province’s school and childcare centre coronavirus-tracking website.

Out of the total cases recorded since September, about 56% of cases have been reported from students.

The province also confirms one school closure out of the 670 schools currently reporting cases.

As for licensed childcare centres, there are now 670 total confirmed cases, as well as 108 centres and 431 homes closed.

On Friday morning, the government of Ontario confirmed 1,396 new COVID-19 cases, with the majority coming from Toronto and Peel.

Newly reported cases have been consistently over 1,000 for eight days with Wednesday’s 1,426, Tuesday’s 1,388 cases, Monday’s 1,242, Sunday’s 1,328, and Saturday’s 1,132.
