The Government of Ontario reports 122 new COVID-19 cases in schools on Thursday, surpassing 3,300 student cases in three months.
According to the provincial government, 94 cases reported today are student-related, and 28 are staff-related. Ontario schools reported 299 total cases.
The new total has now reached 5,146 since back to school.
There have been 1,413 school-related cases in just two weeks, with 3,733 reported 14 or more days before that.
The numbers are announced daily at 10:30 am on the province’s school and childcare centre coronavirus-tracking website.
Out of the total cases recorded since September, about 65% have been from students.
The province reports a total of five school closures out of the 755 schools that have cases.
As for licensed childcare centres, there are now 850 total confirmed cases with 135 centres and 461 homes closed.
On Thursday morning, the provincial government confirmed 1,824 new COVID-19 cases, with more than half from Peel Region and Toronto.
This is an increase from Wednesday’s 1,723, Tuesday’s 1,707, Sunday’s 1,708, Monday’s 1,746, and Saturday’s 1,822, but a decrease from Friday’s record-breaking 1,855.
