Ontario schools report over 100 new COVID-19 cases in a single day
The Government of Ontario is reporting 121 more coronavirus cases in schools in Tuesday’s update, bringing the total to 1,429 across the province.
According to the provincial government, 75 of the new cases are student-related, 22 are staff-related, and 24 are unidentified.
There has been a reported 793 school-related cases in just two weeks, with 636 cases reported 14 or more days before that.
The numbers are announced daily at 10:30 am on the province’s school and childcare centre coronavirus-tracking website.

As for licensed childcare centres, there are now 323 total confirmed cases, as well as 79 centres and 343 homes closed.

This update comes as the provincial government confirms 821 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday morning.
The last few days have seen significantly high cases with Monday’s 704, Sunday’s 658, Saturday’s 805, and Friday’s 712.
Last Friday, October 9, cases stood at 939, which was the highest count to date in the pandemic.
