Ontario reports over 500 new coronavirus cases with almost half from Toronto
The Government of Ontario is reporting 538 new coronavirus cases on Thursday morning, with Toronto reporting almost half of the cases.
There are three new deaths and 515 resolved cases from the previous day.
Out of the new cases, 229 were reported in Toronto, with Peel region reported 101, Ottawa with 66, and 43 in York Region.
According to Health Minister Christine Elliot, 39,600 tests were completed from the previous day.
“60% of today’s cases are people under the age of 40,” Elliot said.
Ontario’s new coronavirus cases have increased significantly in the last few days with Monday having the highest daily case numbers to date with 700 reported, Tuesday with 554, and Wednesday’s 625.
Last weekend’s daily case increases were notable with Friday’s 409, Saturday’s 435, and Sunday’s 491.
To date, there have been a total of 52,248 cases, with 44,422 resolved and 2,851 reported deaths.
