Ontario's new daily coronavirus cases remain relatively steady

Ontario discovered 129 new known coronavirus cases Sunday, a number keeping with the new daily case numbers the province has been seeing in July.

Since July 1, Ontario’s new daily case numbers have been below 200. Sunday’s new cases were slightly below Saturday’s 130, and Thursday’s 170. However, the latest new case numbers mark a slight increase from Friday’s 116Wednesday’s 118, and Tuesday’s 112.

The province also reported three more deaths from the virus on Sunday, bringing Ontario’s coronavirus death toll to 2719.

Ontario has now seen 36,723 total confirmed coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic.

Ontario processed close to 26,000 tests in the past 24 hours, according to Health Minister Christine Elliott.

“Hospitalizations, ICU admissions have both decreased with the number of vented patients being relatively stable,” she tweeted Sunday.

“Locally, 27 of Ontario’s 34 public health units reporting five or fewer cases, with 18 of them reporting no new cases at all.”
