An Ontario man accidentally shot himself trying to make a bullet necklace

While the thought is romantic, maybe try not to make necklaces out of ammunition.

Durham Region Police Service were called to an Oshawa residence on Valentine’s Day after a male reportedly shot himself in the leg.

The 50-year-old male had shot himself while attempting to make a necklace with a bullet, which then exploded.

According to police, the powder igniting in the bullet caused it to explode hitting the male’s thigh. Several casing fragments also hit his leg.

While it possibly sounds romantic, the man said he didn’t realize that this could happen. He was taken to hospital, and surgery was required to remove the bullet and casings.

And Durham Police wanted to remind residents that manipulating ammunition still has the potential to explode.

So maybe just stick with flowers on Valentine’s Day.
