Oddsmakers have surging Toronto Blue Jays top 10 in World Series chances

The Toronto Blue Jays are surging, and their hottest team in years might just be impressing enough to see a significant bump in their World Series chances.
Hot on the heels of a 10-game winning streak, the 54-38 Blue Jays are setting (or close to) all sorts of franchise marks these days. The Jays’ 54 wins before the All-Star break is a best in franchise history, while they’re one game off from tying their best-ever win streak.
And oddsmakers appear to have taken notice, placing the Blue Jays in the mix of the league’s best teams.
As per FanDuel Sportsbook’s World Series odds, the Blue Jays have crept up to eighth place.
Entering Wednesday, the Blue Jays now have +2200 odds at winning the World Series, good enough for eighth in the majors and fourth in the American League.
Despite passing the New York Yankees in the standings, oddsmakers still favour Toronto’s AL East rival, who carry +900 odds: second in the American League and fourth in the MLB.
At the top, it shouldn’t surprise anyone who’s followed baseball even casually the last few years, as the reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers are ahead of the field at +210 odds.
Here’s the top-15 list, per FanDuel.
- Los Angeles Dodgers, +210
- Detroit Tigers, +700
- Philadelphia Phillies, +850
- New York Yankees, +900
- Houston Astros, +950
- Chicago Cubs, +1200
- New York Mets, +1200
- Toronto Blue Jays, +2200
- Seattle Mariners, +3000
- Tampa Bay Rays, +3000
- San Francisco Giants, +3100
- San Diego Padres, +3200
- Milwaukee Brewers, +3300
- Boston Red Sox, +4500
- Texas Rangers, +5000
The Blue Jays are still far from World Series favourites, but they’re much higher than their Opening Day odds of +6500, which saw them rank 20th in the MLB.
Toronto continues its action on the road against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday afternoon to close out a three-game set, before hitting the road to Sacramento to play the Athletics for the first time in their new temporary stadium.
The Blue Jays return home on Friday, July 18, kicking off a six-game home stand against the Giants and Yankees.
