Construction of the long-awaited massive luxury Nordik Spa opening in Whitby is finally underway, and the getaway has announced an opening date for Fall 2020.

The spa will be located just 45 km from Toronto near Cullen Central Park (300 Taunton Road) and will be built over an area of 385,423 sq. ft. in the heart of Whitby.

Though previously expected to open last fall, construction didn’t begin until October 2019.

“After months of planning and preparation, our vision for Nordik Spa-Nature | Whitby is finally coming to life, and we’re looking forward to welcoming our first guests for fall of 2020,” reads the spa’s website.

“Over the past year, we’ve achieved several major milestones for the project.”

The relaxation destination will be able to accommodate 1,100 visitors at a time, who will get to enjoy an “avante-garde, innovative, and multi-sensory rejuvenation experience,” according to a previous release from the developers, the Nordik Group.

The $20 million investment will feature various dry saunas, steam saunas, outdoor pools (hot, cold, and temperate), waterfalls, and multiple outdoor and indoor rest areas.

There will also be an array of wellness massages, body care, treatments, and rituals available to create the ultimate relaxation experience.

The highlight will undoubtedly be the floating salt-water pool that will attract wellness enthusiasts who wish to enjoy the extraordinary experience of weightlessness.

There will also be a sauna space that can accommodate up to 120 people located at the heart of the site. It will be equipped with visual and multi-sensory tools to create a wide range of impressive practices.

The spa will also feature three dining areas and two distinct sections, making the relaxation experience possible in silence or in a social setting.

The Whitby spa will be the company’s third location. The Nordik Group currently has locations in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Chelsea, Quebec. The group aims to open 10 spas over the next 10 years.
