This past weekend, Toronto got to experience the magic of the moon… on earth.
The Aga Khan Museum’s exhibit ‘The Moon: A voyage through time‘ started on March 9. It “celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first human steps on the moon by discovering the wonder, knowledge, and beauty the moon has inspired through the ages.”
According to the Museum, The Moon: A Voyage Through Time explores our enduring fascination with the enchanting orb in the sky, and looks at the role it has played in faith, science, and the arts across the Muslim world and beyond.

World-renowned artist Luke Jerram’s giant sculpture of the moon connects the Museum’s first and second floors. According to the museum, it is the Canadian premiere for the sculpture at this scale.
“To voyage to the moon, you first have to be fascinated and captivated by its continuous and ever-changing presence in the night sky, something that is shared by all cultures, across time and across the world,” said Henry Kim, Director and CEO of the Aga Khan Museum.
“I am pleased the Aga Khan Museum can present this exhibition reflecting our role in bringing people together to celebrate shared experiences.”
If you didn’t get a chance to visit the moon this weekend, here’s what you can look forward to at the exhibit until this summer.
