A new Italian restaurant from a Michelin star chef just opened in Toronto
Don Alfonso 1890 opens in Toronto tonight!
The world-renowned restaurant concept, from Michelin star Chef Ernesto Iaccarino, already boasts locations in Italy, New Zealand, and China.
The new Toronto location found inside the historic Consumer’s Gas Building is a first for Canada and was created in partnership with hospitality icon Nick Di Donato of the Liberty Entertainment Group.
The restaurant is famous for showcasing flavours from the Amalfi coast and prides itself on serving cuisine “characterized by its modernity, Mediterranean flare and the exceptional quality of the raw materials used.”
Diners can order a la carte in the lounge on the mezzanine level or opt to partake in an eight-course tasting menu served in the dining room, accompanied by molecular cocktails.
Courses include a collection of canapés followed by dishes like ice creamed eel with Sturgeon caviar, seared Muscovy duck breast, organic Manitoba bison tenderloin in a rustic bread crust,” as well as vegetarian renditions for meatless eaters.
According to a news release, “the space is designed to evoke a sense of elegance and sophistication and acts as a canvas for the food it presents. Every detail and every piece of furniture has been crafted from the finest materials, many of which were imported directly from Italy.”
