Three additional staff members at Metro Parkway Mall have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the store’s number of reported cases since May 8 to seven.

The employees last worked on May 14 and May 15, according to the grocer’s online disclosure.

Prior to this diagnosis, the virus had been confirmed in four staff at Metro Parkway Mall, located at 15 Ellesmere Road in Scarborough, who last worked on May 6 to 8, and May 13.

Beyond this store location, multiple employees at Metro stores across Toronto have tested positive for coronavirus over the last several weeks.

To date, four cases have been identified at Vickers Distribution Centre at 25 Vickers Road in Scarborough. Another seven have been reported at the West Mall Distribution Centre, at 170 The West Mall, also in Etobicoke.

Other cases have been identified at: West Queen West Metro at 1230 Queen Street West; Bloor and Spadina Metro at 425 Bloor Street West; in Mississauga at 1240 Eglinton Avenue West; and in Oakville, three instances, at the 1011 Upper Middle Road East location.

An additional two cases have been reported at Food Basics, a Metro company grocer, at 2900 Ellesmere Road.

“We will always contact and follow the guidance of Public Health to ensure the safety of our teammates and customers whenever we are made aware of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in one of our food stores or distribution centres,” reads Metro’s website.

The grocer says its online tracker is continually being updated in an effort to keep the public aware of where cases have been confirmed.
