More GTA grocery store employees have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last week.

According to Metro, it was notified of another COVID-19 case at its West Mall Distribution Centre in Etobicoke on August 1. The employee last worked there on June 21.

And on August 3, the company was notified of another positive test at Food Basics in Scarborough, at 2131 Lawrence Avenue East. The employee last worked on August 2.

This follows the announcement last week of another positive test at the Food Basics in Scarborough, which Metro announced on July 24, and the employee last worked on July 19.

Previously, Metro reported five cases identified at its West Mall Distrbution Centre — staff members last worked on July 14, 16, 17, and 20.

Metro has also disclosed another case of the illness at the same location, where the staff member last worked July 4, as well as  another case was identified at the Food Basics located at 2550 Hurontario Street in Mississauga.

Prior to these new developments, Metro has disclosed cases of coronavirus at locations including Parkway Mall, West Queen West, Bloor and Spadina, College and Shaw, The Cold Chain Produce Distribution Centre, and more.

“We will always contact and follow the guidance of Public Health to ensure the safety of our teammates and customers whenever we are made aware of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in one of our food stores or distribution centres,” reads Metro’s website.

The grocer says its online tracker is continually being updated in an effort to keep the public aware of where cases have been confirmed.
