Downtown McDonald's closes after employee tests positive for coronavirus

Apr 24 2020, 8:50 pm

The McDonald’s located at King and Bathurst has closed temporarily after an employee, who worked as recently as this morning, tested positive for COVID-19.

The affected employee reportedly worked from 11 pm to 6 am on April 20.

A spokesperson for the company said that the 710 King Street West location of the restaurant has been shuttered out of an “abundance of caution,” and a thorough cleaning and sanitization is being conducted by third-party professionals.

The restaurant will re-open once local health authorities give the direction to do so, and the spokesperson says the company is working to ensure the reopening is as safe as possible.

“All crew members who may have been in close contact with the employee have been asked to self-quarantine until further information is available,” Daily Hive was told.

Any guests who visited the restaurant on April 20 should follow the guidelines outlined here by Ontario Public Health.
