You can see live music at Toronto Pearson Airport all summer long

If you’re flying in or out of the city on Tuesday, Friday, or Saturday nights this summer, you may have some local artists serenading you on your way through the terminal.

That’s right — YYZ Live, a live music series at Toronto Pearson International Airport, is kicking off its third consecutive year of FREE live performances in the airport tonight.

The program runs through the summer until September 14, and will happen again in December.

“The city is thrilled to be continuing our successful partnership with Toronto Pearson International Airport and to be again filling the airport with the sound of local live music,” said Mayor John Tory, in a statement.

“YYZ Live demonstrates our commitment as a city that values music by bringing Toronto musicians to unique spaces and more audiences.”

YYZ Live features six free, live music performances each week on the evenings of Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday at the YYZ live stages—one in the Terminal 3 departure gate (past security) and one in the Terminal 1 international arrivals meet and greet (before security).

To kick off the event, there will also be performances this Monday on Canada Day.

You can expect a range of local talents showcasing a cocktail of everything from folk, pop, and indie to R&B, blues, and jazz.

The first performance will be held tonight in Terminal 1 at the international arrivals before security from 6 pm to 8 pm and will feature Bruno Capinan, a Brazilian-born, Canadian self-taught singer-songwriter.

Want to plan your flights so you can catch a show? You can get a full schedule of performances on Toronto Pearson’s website here.

Toronto-based musicians are also encouraged to apply to perform, and can do so here.
