New 89,000 sq ft wellness club opening in Liberty Village (RENDERINGS)

An under-construction Liberty Village development is gaining one big perk: Altea Active is opening a massive two-storey, 89,000-sq-ft wellness club inside of it.

The club will be located inside Novus, a new 25-and 38-storey development at 25 Ordnance Street, and is expected to open in November.

The club’s two storeys will be packed with amenities to meet their members’ every fitness and social need.

There will be five multi-purpose studios where group classes will take place, including everything from HIIT to boxing to barre. The planned 75-bike cycling studio will be the largest cycling studio in all of Canada.

“Toronto is a dynamic, energetic city filled with people who enjoy living an activated lifestyle, and Altea Active will offer a one-of-a-kind urban playground for Torontonians looking for a vibrant social space that supports living a healthy lifestyle,” said Michael Nolan, co-founder and COO of Altea Active.

An expansive 2,500-sq-ft hot yoga studio, 25-metre lap pool, hot tub, hydrotherapy jet pool, steam rooms, Topgolf simulators, four bowling lanes, and ping pong tables will also be included in the facility.

To make it family-friendly, the Liberty Village wellness centre will also have a kid’s club, family change rooms, family swim time, and Canadian Red Cross swim lessons.

And don’t worry about bringing your own towel, because there will be complimentary towel service.

If you find yourself getting hungry after a workout, there will be a smoothie bar where you can grab a snack, or you can check out the on-site sit-down social lounge for food and cocktails. There will also be a Starbucks to keep gym-goers caffeinated.

“We believe that social connections are essential to our overall health. To reflect this, our facilities are purposely designed to foster community and encourage social interaction, while also providing world-class cardio and strength equipment, group fitness classes and services that help boost the physical health and wellness of our members,” Nolan said.

Memberships for Altea Active will range from $95-125, which will include access to all of the fitness classes, aquatics centre, and Catalyst.
