Iconic photo of Kawhi's buzzer beater wins world photography award
Kawhi Leonard’s buzzer beater to knock out the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 7 in last year’s playoffs is the most iconic moment in Toronto Raptors history.
As the ball rattled on the rim, time seemingly stood still for a moment.
Turns out, that’s great for photography, as the iconic image of Kawhi, Joel Embiid, and others waiting for the ball to fall through the hoop has garnered worldwide attention.
Toronto photographer Mark Blinch snapped the image, which was named the best sports photo in the world by World Press Photo.

Blinch is actually the team photographer for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but has also shot other sports, including basketball for the Raptors. His photo beat out other incredible images, including a Brazilian soccer photo and a snap of Liverpool’s Champions League victory parade.
