A karaage sandwich with mochi doughnut buns just landed in Toronto

Toronto is known for wild cuisine creations, but a new drop from one east-end sweet shop might just take the cake.

Isabella’s Boutique Restaurant, known for slingin’ mochi doughnuts (yes, you read that right) in the beaches, has dreamt up a sandwich that combines its sugary treat with something savoury.

Starting next week, you’ll be able to visit the 2066 Queen Street East eatery to order a Karaage Mochi Doughnut Sandwich. Indeed.

Consisting of two “big pieces” of karaage and house-made Tougarashi slaw sandwiched between glazed mochi doughnuts, the treat is available for pre-order on the spot’s website.

This treat goes for $13.50, and sits on the eatery’s “food menu” alongside a standard Karaage sandwich and Japanese poutine.

So if you’ve been hankering for something sweet and mochi doughnuts sound like they’d fit the bill, why not get a little adventurous with you’re snacking while you’re at it?
