Now, more than ever, do we need to continue moving forward towards gender equality.

And there’s no better time to demonstrate this than on International Women’s Day, which celebrates women’s economic, political and social achievements globally.

Here in Toronto, a march and rally are planned for the upcoming International Women’s Day, giving Torontonians the opportunity to march in solidarity with women across the globe.

According to event organizers, this year’s theme is “liberation, honouring our sisters, celebrating our victories, strengthening our resistance on Indigenous land.”

International Women’s Day has been observed for over 100 years and has grown to become a day of recognition and celebration around the world.

While events typically take place on March 8, which happens to be a Thursday this year, Toronto will be hosting events early on Saturday, March 3.

The event is organized by the IWD Organizing Committee and Women Working with Immigrant Women and everyone is welcome to come out and show their support.

Whether you make a sign, rock a pink pussy hat, or just head out to march, you’ll be standing up for women’s rights everywhere.
