This spot could be the very first patio to reopen in Toronto

Jun 23 2020, 8:06 pm

Toronto will enter Stage 2 of reopening at 12:01 am this evening morning, and one local restaurant can’t open its patio soon enough.

In perfect alignment with the city crossing the threshold, Hemingway’s will open its patio — that’ll be 12:01 am, on the dot.

This Yorkville spot’s patio was — during normal times — open until 2 am, 365 days a year. And now, with the kitchen open until the wee hours of the morning, you can count on a late-night bite alongside some boozing.

The joint is encouraging reservations to snag a seat on the patio, which can be made online here.

Seating on the restaurant’s patio has been readjusted, in order to ensure customers have room to physically distance from one another. Stickers displaying QR codes have been added to every table, which customers can scan to view the spot’s contactless menu.

To make it more sanitary for guests to visit the washrooms, what are essentially foot- handles have been added to the base of each door. Simply pull the door open with your foot and you’re in the door, hands-free.

And, to encourage healthy customer flow and proper physical distancing, signs have been placed throughout the property to ensure folks don’t gather too close to one another.
