Group behind Gusto 101 opening new multi-level restaurant in Toronto
Gusto 54, the same restaurant group that’s behind Gusto 101, Trattoria Nervosa, Chubby’s Jamaican Kitchen, and many more, is gearing up to open Corktown’s largest eatery.
Gusto 501 will open its doors at 501 King Street East in late fall of this year, and will feature five levels that will offer “independent dining experiences,” says a release.
Guests can anticipate an open concept ground floor dining room, semi-private amari lounge, cocktail bar, top-floor chef tasting kitchen (aptly named âAtticoâ), and a seasonal rooftop patio.
The menu will integrate some classics from Gusto 101, as well as fresh takes on contemporary Italian fare.

The modern space will be the restaurant group’s first spot to be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and will be Corktownâs largest restaurant, providing employment for approximately 100 people.
In addition to offering mouthwatering food, the restaurant, designed by award-winning architecture firm PARTISANS with interior decor consulting by Wendy Haworth Design Studio, will offer guests a whole architecture and design experience.
âWhen we purchased the property almost five years ago, I had this gut feeling. There was something special about this neighbourhood that felt exciting, undiscovered. I took a chance on Corktown, believing it would be the ideal home for our next big project,â said Janet Zuccarini, CEO and owner of Gusto 54 Restaurant Group in a release.
âItâs been incredible to work with the PARTISANS team and Wendy Haworth Design Studio who have helped us build our vision from the ground up. We are eager to welcome everyone in and hope it will become a neighbourhood favourite for years to come. Itâs truly been a labour of love.â
Inspired by dining al fresco in Italy, the site of a former auto body shop is now an immersive dining and social space dedicated to the community, its landscape and character, and sustainability.
Gear up to get cozy with a welcoming atmosphere and indulgent comfort food, just in time for the chillier season.
