The Annex's iconic Green Beanery coffee shop has closed for good

After 12 years of being nestled into the corner of Bloor and Bathurst providing a coffee-filled haven for the sleepy-eyed, Green Beanery has closed.

With more than a decade of political discussions, first dates, proposals, and poetry readings behind it, the cozy spot is exiting the brick-and-mortar sphere.

While the Bloor Street cafe is now shuttered, the company does live on through the e-commerce realm.

You can still shop the stock of fresh beans through its online store.

It’s not clear yet what will replace the cozy coffee house at one of the city’s most popular intersections.

Until time tells, caffeine aficionados can revel in 12 years of comforting brews, and know that their patronage helped create the space the Annex came to know and love — the cafe says so.

“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to you, our loyal customers and friends, who have made this café such a great success.”
